Food from 九秀直播 shines at speciality show

Business contacts were made and orders were generated when members of Food from 九秀直播 showcased the area鈥檚 exceptional food and drink, and the benefits of living and working in 九秀直播 and Bute, at Scotland鈥檚 Speciality Food Show, at Glasgow鈥檚 SECC, in January. The show attracts buyers from delicatessens, farm shops, and specialist food retailers from throughout Scotland and the North of England. More than 4500 visitors attended the show, over three days.

The awards recognise, promote and celebrate examples of exceptional design quality, with a focus on sustainability, which reflects the council鈥檚 commitment to meeting its climate change responsibilities.

Staff to get on their bike for charity

Energetic employees from across 九秀直播 are getting on their bikes next month to cycle 2,053 miles in aid of Sport Relief. Using spin-cycles at Live九秀直播 leisure centres, staff will follow a virtual route around all 81 school establishments in the area, starting at Southend Primary in South Kintyre, and finishing up at Aringour Primary on the Isle of Coll.

Update on Coll flight suspension

鈥淲e have done everything we can, to secure the continued service of flights to Coll. Despite financial challenges, we have investment in place to continue subsidising the service by 拢280 per seat and we have successfully completed the first stage of recruitment for a dedicated fire safety crew for the airport, which is a safety requirement under CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) legislation.

More than 90 young people from across Oban and Lorn had an informative and fun day out when they attended an 鈥楿nder the Sea鈥 Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) event at The Ocean Explorer Centre in Dunbeg.

Ferry service funding on the agenda at Scottish Government meeting

The Leader of 九秀直播 secured a 鈥榮ympathetic鈥 response to the area鈥檚 need for ferry funding, when she took 九秀直播 and Bute鈥檚 case to the Scottish Government鈥檚 Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands. In a meeting held today (28 January), Councillor Aileen Morton raised the funding and service issues affecting ferries across 九秀直播 and Bute, with Paul Wheelhouse MSP. Councillor Morton said:

Fruit Fridays are a big hit at Kilninver

Staff at Kilninver Primary have introduced an ingenious way of encouraging pupils to eat more fruit and vegetables, whilst reducing the school鈥檚 food waste at the same time. Known as 鈥楩ruit Fridays鈥, any fresh fruit and vegetables that are left over from the week are prepared, attractively presented and shared out amongst the children on a Friday, encouraging them to eat more healthy and to try new things.

Lochgilphead Joint Campus embraces 'Veganuary'

Catering staff at Lochgilphead Joint Campus have got behind 鈥榁eganuary鈥 by providing pupils with a delicious vegan option every day at lunchtime. From vegetable fajitas and sweet potato curry, to bulgar wheat salad and pesto and chickpeaflat bread, pupils have fully embraced the delicious new food options available, with vegan options selling out quickly. Head Teacher Ann Devine said: 鈥淚 would like to commend the catering team for their tremendous efforts to promote sustainability and healthy eating in the school.
