New bus for Campbeltown Pingo service

A new fully-accessible, fuel-efficient, ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ bus is taking on a route in Campbeltown to help travellers get to where they need to be.

Councillor John Armour, policy lead for Roads, Transport and Amenity Services, formally handed over the 16-seat bus to John Martin, Campbeltown’s Operations Manager with West Coast Motors, the contractors who are running the service.

The new branded bus has air conditioning, USB charging for phones and seat belts. It will operate the Campbeltown Pingo service, which lets customers book a shared journey, not served by a scheduled bus, at a time that suits the customer.

You can book and pay for your journey online by downloading the Pingo Rider app. You can even track the progress of your bus as it makes its way to your selected pick-up point.

If you don't have a smartphone, you can still book the service by using the Pingo helpdesk on 0141 370 9262.

Councillor John Armour said: “I’m delighted to hand the bus over to John, as our local operator.

“We understand how important public transport is to people living in rural communities and towns and we do all we can to deliver services that meet the needs of daily life.

“The Pingo services give a bit more flexibility to support the scheduled routes and I hope that as many local residents as possible in Campbeltown make the most of this fantastic new vehicle. Keep a look out for it.â€
