Eight new rapid electric vehicle chargers are now in place across ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute.
- Two at Dunoon Coal Pier;
- Two at Rothesay Pier, Isle of Bute;
- One at Tarbert Harbour;
- One at Ledaig Car Park, Tobermory, Mull; and
- Two at Corran Halls Public Car Park, Oban.
The funding, of around £370,000, came via the HiTRANS FASTER project, which is supported by the European Union’s INTERREG VA Programme and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
This joint piece of work, covering Scotland Ireland and Northern Ireland, supports the overarching ambition to transition to low-carbon transport systems.
Councillor Peter Wallace, Depute Policy Lead for Roads and Transport, said: “These are welcome additions to the council’s suite of EV chargers across the area and we are grateful to HiTRANS for installing the chargers.
“Over the past seven years, we have secured close to £1m to install a total of 38 EV chargers. We will continue to source funding and develop our network to help people travel with confidence across the region.
“It’s a challenge, given our geography, but we are committed to doing all we can to reduce carbon emissions and support a climate friendly ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute and its glorious environment.â€
