¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ is working in partnership with the new owner of the former Royal Hotel in Rothesay to develop a project to restore the grade B-listed building.
The project seeks to protect the key heritage asset that has been empty for over 15 years and is one of the first buildings that people see as they approach Rothesay by ferry, occupying a prominent location within the conservation area.
The council is working with owner George Hanson and other members of the community to set up a non-profit social enterprise to take this project forward and attract funding to bring the building back into productive use for community benefit. A key aspect of attracting funding will be demonstrating public support for the project.
Council Leader, Councillor Jim Lynch, said: “The former Royal Hotel is a prominent building in Rothesay’s historical townscape so we are delighted to be able to support this new venture and provide help and advice to reinstate it.â€
