Data drives council activities

Data will be at the heart of key decision-making and improving outcomes for ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute’s residents and communities, after councillors gave the green light to the council’s new Data Strategy and Action Plan for 2024-2028.

¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ is nationally recognised for its innovative use of data having been cited as a case study in the Scottish Government and COSLA’s Data Strategy for Health and Social Care in 2023 for its successful approach in using data to deliver integrated care.

A key benefit of the plan, which will work alongside the council’s existing ICT and Digital Strategy, will be to focus attention and resources on the most relevant data challenges and opportunities.

The council’s Policy Lead for Community Planning and Corporate Services, Councillor Mark Irvine, said: “The council’s new Data Strategy will continue our focus on harnessing the value of our data to improve our service delivery to ensure we improve outcomes for our communities.

“That will require us to maintain our track record of investment in software, data platforms and digital infrastructure and ensuring that we maximise people’s skills via ongoing training and development.â€
