Lochdonhead Primary School is the regional winner of the 2023 Primary Awards for Green Education in Schools (PAGES) - a new awards scheme for primary schools in the UK that aims to encourage environmental education for young people aged between 5 and 11.
Pupils fought off stiff competition from almost 300 entries, and won the award for their continued work to regenerate a nature trail at the school.
Talking about Lochdonhead’s entry, the judging panel said: “The children clearly did a lot of research in the process of recreating the Lochdonhead nature trail. We were delighted to see that they had shared their knowledge with children from a neighbouring primary school too. There is so much great work in the project - congratulations to everyone involved.â€
¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥â€™s Policy Lead for Education, Councillor Yvonne McNeilly, said: “The Lochdonhead Nature Trail is a fantastic a resource and pupils and staff at the school have been working very hard to develop it since it was first opened in 2017.
“The trail offers so many opportunities for outdoor learning and has helped create strong links with the local community and other schools, all whilst raising awareness of climate change. Well done to everyone involved – a great achievement.â€
