New cashless parking app launches

Cashless parking will be available across ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute from Monday 15 August 2022 making it more convenient for residents and visitors to park and help support town centres and local businesses.

The new PayByPhone app is user-friendly and available across 35 on-and-off street locations. It offers an alternative means of payment to the existing pay and display machines enabling payment via your mobile phone.

With the new app, there is no need to have the right change, display a ticket in your vehicle or look for the nearest Pay and Display machine. You simply register your details on the app and enter a location code, displayed when you park.

In addition, you can extend your parking session if you need more time from your phone, without having to rush back to the car.

For a full list of areas where PayByPhone is available, and to start using it today, download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store or visit the PayByPhone website

Councillor Andrew Kain, Policy Lead for Roads and Transport:

“Moving to cashless parking will not only make it easier for residents and visitors but also support ongoing local economic recovery by encouraging people to shop local.  The new app makes it convenient for residents to pop into town without the need to find change for parking. The ability to extend your parking session also means visitors can take their time and enjoy everything ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute has to offer.â€

The PayByPhone app also includes other helpful features. The Maps feature enables drivers to locate parking before leaving and to pin their vehicle location onto the map once they have parked. The Nearby Parking feature instantly provides drivers with the closest PayByPhone parking location.

Parking meters across ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute will continue to offer different payment options, from contactless to Chip and PIN and cash. More information on parking is available on the council website /parking
