New planning admin fees introduced from 1 April

¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ will introduce some new administration charges in its planning process from 1 April 2021 as agreed at the February’s council budget meeting.

The council encourages individuals and developers to submit planning and related applications online using the Scottish Government’s e-Planning portal. This is generally the most efficient way of dealing with applications. From 1 April, there will be an administration charge on any applications submitted as hardcopy that are capable of being submitted via the e-Planning portal.

The charges are:

A separate charge to be introduced will be applied to requests submitted under Section 64 of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 for non-material amendments (NMA) to a previous grant of planning permission. This is a streamlined process for developers seeking approval of minor amendments to the detail of a previously approved planning permission.

However, charges will not apply if the amendment relates to planning permission that was granted within 12 months from the date of the NMA request being received.

From 1 April, the fees for requests NMA will be:

  • Householder Development (extensions/alterations to existing dwellings and domestic outbuildings) - £50.00
  • Non-Householder Local Development - £100.00
  • Major Development - £200.00

Full guidance on requesting an NMA, and the application form that must be completed, can be found on the planning page of the council’s website.

It is also highlighted that from 1 April 2021 requests must be submitted either by e-mail to planning.hq@argyll-bute.gov.uk, or by post to Development Management, Kilmory Castle, Kilmory, Lochgilphead, ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, PA31 8RT.
