Do you fancy an exciting career change? ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ is running a campaign to recruit new childminders, particularly on the Isle of Bute and in the Mid ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ area where there is a particular shortage.
The Council’s Early Years Team will help guide interested parties through the whole process, from the initial enquiry right through to registering with the Care Inspectorate.
Financial assistance is also available to purchase a range of equipment, such as pushchairs and stairgates, and to make small home adaptations.
The Council’s Policy Lead for Education, Councillor Yvonne McNeilly, said: “Being a childminder is an extremely rewarding career. Not only does it give you an opportunity to be your own boss, childminders play a vital part in helping our children and young people to thrive in a loving, homely environment.
“Our registered childminders provide an outstanding service, and are an absolute integral part of our childcare strategy, but we need more to come on board. ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute is a beautiful, yet very rural local authority, so it’s really important that we get as many people as possible to consider a career in childminding.
“We are especially in need of more childminders in Mid ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute. I understand that some people might find the application process a bit daunting, but let me assure you that our Early Years Team will be beside you, helping you every step of the way.
“I would urge anyone considering it to get in touch with us in the first instance to find out more.â€
