A new £1.57 billion package of emergency grants and loans for the arts has been announced by the UK Government with an estimated share of £97M for Scotland. Under the new scheme, organisations from the performing arts and theatres, heritage, historic places, museums, galleries, live music and independent cinema will be able to apply for emergency grants and loans.
The news follows Scottish Government’s , a package of £10M to help support Scotland’s performing arts venues.
Councillor Alastair Redman, Policy Lead for Economic Growth:
“We are extremely lucky in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute to have such a wealth of arts and culture so it’s particularly welcome news that this sector, who have struggled throughout the pandemic will receive such a vital lifeline. The emergency grants and loans will help art groups and venues stay afloat and also support their staff.
Our arts and culture are not only hugely important for our communities but for our economy as we start to welcome visitors back in the months and years to come. I would urge local arts, heritage groups and attractions to apply for funding.â€
