People with a PA21 postcode are being invited to apply for funding from the Lamont Bequest Fund.
The original bequest was ‘to be distributed to the poor of Kilfinan’ but, due to significant changes in society since then, the bequest needed to be updated to take account of these.
At a meeting of the Bute and Cowal Area Committee, members agreed the updated bequest terms and eligibility criteria that must be met before applications will be considered.
The original parish of Kilfinan mirrors the current Kilfinan Community Council and is everyone with a PA21 postcode. Therefore, residents of Otter Ferry, Kilfinan, Portavadie, Ardlamont, Millhouse, Kames and Tighnabruaich are eligible beneficiaries.
Eiligible applicants must be in receipt of a qualifying benefit such as Jobseekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, Income Support, or Universal Credit. People who are employed/self-employed, must be in receipt of some amount of Universal Credit as well.
Eligible individuals will receive £50, while families will get £100.
