More than 6000 premises in the Helensburgh and Lomond area have been connected to the new hybrid fibre broadband network over the last six years thanks to the Scottish Government’s Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband programme.
And 65% of those premises have taken up the service, compared to 55% elsewhere in Scotland, showing that there is a real demand for digital infrastructure here in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute.
The majority of the 6181 premises which have been connected can access Superfast Broadband with speeds greater than 30Mbps.
A total of 34 new cabinets have been installed in eight exchange areas – Arden, Arrochar, Cardross, Clynder, Garelochhead, Helensburgh, Kilcreggan and Rhu. Additional work is also ongoing in Portincaple, Luss and Cove.
The next stage in the Scottish Government’s drive to give every home and business in Scotland access to Superfast Broadband is the Reaching 100% (R100) project, which will shortly take over from the Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband programme.
