The council has responsibility for a variety of marine services across ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute, including seven main piers and harbours.
Vicki McKenzie is the harbour master at Oban North Pier and pontoons.
Talking about her role, Vicki said: “I love the variety that my job offers. The North Pier and pontoons are really busy throughout the year, with both commercial and leisure traffic. We see a lot of cruise ships coming in too, as well as a lot of large commercial vessels.
“The pontoons provide flexible, short-stay accommodation for vessels of varying sizes, whilst our new visitors’ maritime facility is home to the harbourmaster’s office, toilets, showers, lockers and a changing area as well as commercial space which is currently rented out.
“We’ve seen a large increase in the number of tourists visiting the area since the pontoons opened. In the first two months alone we had 5,000 visitors come ashore. I love that we are able to provide people with a warm ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute welcome and let them see what the area has to offer.â€
