Fiona Anderson is a Special Projects Officer in the council’s Governance and Law Team, but during elections she takes on another important role, dealing with postal votes.
Fiona said: “We work closely with the Electoral Registration Office in Campbeltown and issue postal voting packs to around 12,000 people.
“In the weeks running up to the election day we appoint a team of staff who start opening the postal votes returned to us, and follow the strict process of verifying the signatures and dates of birth before the ballot papers can be secured in the ballot boxes, ready to be counted with the other ballot papers after the election.
“Out of the 12,000 packs that we send out we usually receive approximately 80% back, so it’s a lengthy process.
“We all work well together though and, believe it or not, I really enjoy election time!â€
