A report detailing the progress of a number of large scale projects across ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute has been presented to Councillors.
The Council’s Environment, Development and Infrastructure Committee was this week (June 7) updated on major projects in Campbeltown, Helensburgh, Rothesay, Inveraray, Tarbert and Dunoon.
A report presented to the committee, providing updates on project work of the Transformation Projects and Regeneration Team, includes progress of the Council’s various Conservation Area Regeneration (CARS) and Townscape Heritage (TH) schemes, which involves a total investment of more than £10million. This investment in the built heritage of Rothesay, Inveraray, Campbeltown and Dunoon is mainly made up from funding from Historic Environment Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund, with match funding from the Council and private owners.
Also included in the report is an update on six projects as part of the Tarbert and Lochgilphead Regeneration Fund, which is backed by £3million of Council funding to support regeneration and economic development in Tarbert, Lochgilphead and Ardrishaig.
The £3.5million regeneration of Helensburgh’s Hermitage Park also features in the report, with work on the project expected to be completed this year.
An outline of progress on the Culture, Heritage and Arts (CHArts) is also included, highlighting the importance of creative industries in rural areas.
Councillor Aileen Morton, Council Leader and Policy Lead for Economic Development, said: “This report outlines the large scale projects that are underway in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute and shows that a lot of work is being done to support economic development. Funding from external bodies is vital to the success of these projects and I look forward to seeing further progress on them all.â€
