Hundreds of major events and festivals take place throughout the year in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute. Most events are community led initiatives, supported by ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and other agencies such as . ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bute has an enormous range of special events taking place each year and has a fantastic cultural scene stretching from the smallest island communities to mainland villages and urban centres.

| The STA has remained on the front foot since the coronavirus crisis started to unfold.  The organisation is having conversations with all sizes and types of tourism businesses across Scotland around the clock and continues its dialogue with the Scottish and UK Governments to bring about the introduction of additional measures that will prevent the collapse of our industry in the coming weeks and months.

| UKHospitality represents the broad hospitality sector across the UK – covering everything from bars, coffee shops, contract catering, hotels, nightclubs, visitor attractions and other leisure venues. UKHospitality and over 200 CEOs from across the UK’s hospitality sector have called on the Government to provide immediate support for businesses.

Cinemas

Film fanatics will find cinemas in and . The in Campbeltown is community owned and is the oldest purpose-built cinema in Scotland still showing films. , a mobile cinema, also regularly visits some of the more remote communities. The new Screen Machine Take 2 is air conditioned and seats 80. It has 35mm projection big screen with Dolby Surround Sound. It tours to Lochgilphead, Tarbert, Tighnabruaich, Islay and Mull. The Mull Theatre in the village of Tobermory has a programme of performances throughout the season. In addition, visiting companies bring opera, theatre, music of various types, ballet and other cultural art forms from time to time to various venues throughout ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and the islands.
