Book of Remembrance
The Book of Remembrance, at Cardross Crematorium, is open for viewing.
We ask that you call us first on 01389 841313 to make an appointment, before coming to the Crematorium.
Opening Hours 10.00am to 4.00pm daily
The Book of Remembrance is on display in the book room at the crematorium. It provides a lasting and simple but dignified memorial. The books are hand bound in leather covers and the pages are made from the finest calf vellum. The inscriptions are added by expert craftsmen and form a permanent artistic record.
The Book is open each day at the page displaying the current date so the entries may be seen on each anniversary date for many years to come.
About the cremation ashes
If you would like to bury the ashes and have a gravestone it would be necessary to have the ashes buried in a cemetery or churchyard. The gardens of a crematorium are not a burial ground within statutory law therefore erecting a headstone is not permitted. Burying ashes are merely a form of scattering, as the ashes are not enclosed in an urn or casket.
You do not have to dispose of the ashes, and may keep them with you if you desire.
